Rural Mobility Fund Engagement Survey

Closed 19 May 2021

Opened 28 Apr 2021

Staffordshire County Council has been successful in securing funds from the Department for Transport to extend and develop the Moorlands Connect Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) offer in the Staffordshire Moorlands area.

The four year project will see the service increase in operation to provide journeys Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm and journeys on summer Sundays. The operating area will cover the existing Moorlands Connect area between Leek, Ashbourne and Buxton and is extended to also include Alton, Oakamoor, Whiston, Foxt and Ipstones.  Journeys will be available for residents and visitors to the area. The service will operate within the area and will link passengers directly to the existing local bus network at key interchanges, for onward travel. All travel interchanges will be guaranteed.

Passengers will be able to make a booking via Website, Mobile Phone App or Telephone. Single tickets will be available to cover the whole journey and can be purchased online or paid for on the vehicle.

The service will open up opportunities for commuting to work, schools and colleges, accessing local services including shopping and medical appointments, leisure and social activities. The vehicles will be fitted with cycle racks to allow passengers to access cycle ways within the Peak District.
