Health and Care Consultation – Your Local Healthwatch in Staffordshire

Closed 28 Jun 2021

Opened 11 Jun 2021

Overview

Why are we consulting with you?

Staffordshire County Council is recommissioning their Healthwatch services from 1 April 2022. The County Council are legally required to provide these services but have a choice as to how they are best delivered. To do this we are exploring views around the current and future Healthwatch approach, including how this could be further strengthened and focused to ensure it meets the needs of local people and influences the future of health and social care services.

As Healthwatch is an independent champion acting on behalf of local people, it’s really important that everyone who may use this service has a say about the current and future approach.  Your opinion about what you want from Healthwatch in the future is important to us.

What is Healthwatch?

Healthwatch is an independent consumer champion for people who use health and social care services in Staffordshire. Its job is to ensure that local voices are heard and that people’s views and experiences are used to improve existing services and to help shape future services. Where concerns and problems about care services have been identified they will ensure that the right people know and check that action is taken to resolve them and prevent them from happening again. Healthwatch also provides information and advice to help people find the right health and care services, supporting people to take responsibility for their own wellbeing and works with other providers to signpost people to independent support, if they need it, to make a complaint about a health service.

You can find out more about Healthwatch and what they do by visiting www.healthwatch.co.uk./ healthwatchstaffordshire.co.uk

How do I have my say?

As a member of the public you are invited to please complete the public survey below.

The closing date for all completed surveys is midnight on 28 June 2021 so please don’t miss this opportunity to give us your feedback.

What will happen next?

After the consultation has ended the County Council will consider the views of local people and organisations along with any other relevant information and will use this to decide on how the Healthwatch approach in Staffordshire can best be shaped and focused to continue to meet the needs of local people and effectively influence health and social care services in the future.
