Overview

Staffordshire Scientific Services is an innovative, flexible, not for profit business unit within the Public Protection arm of Staffordshire County Council. In operation since 1929, our Public Analysts and highly qualified scientific staff have been working to protect the public from the deliberate or accidental introduction of harmful food, drinks and animal feeding stuffs into the marketplace for over 82 years.

As well as fulfilling our primary purpose of serving the regulatory needs of local authorities across the midlands and beyond, we have also built up a large portfolio of customers (both public and private) throughout the UK and internationally. This has allowed us to fulfil our goal of sourcing external capital for investment in equipment and personnel - enabling services to be delivered in a way that would not be possible for the authority on its own.

The laboratory is accredited to UKAS Quality Standard ISO/IEC 17025 and is an Official Control Laboratory as defined by European legislation.
